That's because we don't play that style of football! Not exactly doing Reading and Newcastle any good is it?  ::)

Hi ASI, aren't we supposed to mix it up? If we conform to one template then the opposition can soon adapt...

oh Bart, oh ye of little faith.  This is a project.  Carrickfergus wasn't built in a day.

but seriously - looking at those figures, for the entire premiership clubs, is scary.  Even the best crossing teams, are only successful in finding a team mate in less than 1 in 4 occasions.

it makes you wonder, why bother cross the ball at all.

and even west ham, one of the better crossers of the ball, only have Carroll on the end of it......so why bother crossing.

this makes me cross.

Rogers clearly doesn't want to do that and given we have no tall forwards I don't blame him. Look at Spurs position. It's not doing them any harm. Mixing it would be nice and maybe he'll do it when he's got more experience. But for now he's probably sticking to what he's most comfortable with. If he mixed it up he might be accused of not knowing what style he wants to play.

It's another daft Mail league table. They could do countless ones based on different criteria and we would probably finish quite high on several.

Cheers,
Ray

I'll build new Liverpool dynasty... just like Shankly, vows Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers believes that his Liverpool players must not be held hostage by the history of the club and says he needs to rebuild the club like Bill Shankly once did.

Since arriving on Merseyside the Liverpool manager has gone to great lengths to embrace the club's famous history — including restoring the original 'This is Anfield' sign in the tunnel.

Speaking to Yahoo, Rodgers said: 'For someone like me, my job is to build the club again, like Bill Shankly did very successfully and that set up the many successful eras that everyone remembers Liverpool for.

'There is no comparison in relation to those greats of the past (Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley).

'That’s what I’m trying to replicate and it’s a huge challenge, because the club is an institution, but it is a challenge that I’ve enjoyed every minute of and all the staff and players have also. I’ve seen real progress this season and I would expect us to continue that over the next couple of years.

'What is also important, though, is that we are not held hostage to our history. This is an incredible club, you only need to walk into the reception to see a European Cup in the hallway, so you know that everyday you come in you have to be good.

'It’s important that we use that as motivation and commitment for our future. The wonderful players and managers that we have had here provide inspiration to us all and it gives us a great focus going forward to try and recreate those memories.'

Rodgers also revealed how a winning culture at the big clubs does not come only from the leading individuals like Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard, but from a united team ethic.

‘If you are going to be successful there is no point in having three or four top individual players because those players will win you games but they will never win you titles,’ he added.

‘A strong team ethos is very important and no one at Liverpool is asked to do any more than anyone else, we all share the same work ethic and focus to be the very best that we can. There are many different ways that you can create that ethos but the best way is to do it on the training field everyday.

‘We set high standards on and off the training pitch for all members of staff and that can be the biggest thing so far as creating a winning culture is concerned, it is something that we continue to work very hard at.’

The Liverpool boss also believes there is plenty more to come from January signing Daniel Sturridge, provided he keeps working hard at the club.

'He has settled in very well, but he still has lots of aspects of his game to work on in order to achieve what he wants to and to allow him to make the kind of impact that we want.

'He has made a very promising start and as long as he maintains that same level of commitment and responsible attitude to improving, I can see him being a great signing for the club.'

yesterday's Guardian article, comparing Rodgers to David Brent, has clearly forced our boss to have a rethink about making grandiose statements.

Your hatred of Brendan Rodgers, the manager of Liverpool Football Club, is far far greater than your love for this very club.

I best find another forum. Best of all to you.

you are confused, Martin.

we support Liverpool FC.

You, on the otherhand, create idols that you worship.....in this case, you are in the midst of a lovefest with a bloke called Brendan Rodgers.

good luck wherever you decide to go to.  Maybe the grass will be greener somewhere else.  But I doubt it.
