The youth team/players

A thread to discuss the youth team. Apologies if there is any similar thread out there.

I am going to the FA Youth Cup match tonight against Histon FC, as I live 5mins drive from Histon's ground.

Looking forward to see some of them in action especially McLaughlin and Ibe.

It was freaking freezing tonight, snowing and the pitch was bad.

We won 4-0 and there was some good performances from individuals.

Firstly as a whole team they just got the job done in the conditions they found themselves in. They didn't play exceptional but they play professionally well and outplayed Histon - which was to be expected - but never the less they got the job done.

The stand outs for me were Jordon Ibe who I thought was excellent. His speed and wing play is top notch. Ryan McLaughlin is our future right back. The boy is MAGNIFICENT IMO already better than Wisdom and much more better than Flanagan. He has everything in his locker for a right back. We just have to nuture him at the right pace.

A player I wasn't much aware of was our captain Jordan Lussey who I thought always looked calm and composed in the centre of midfield. Definitely one for the future.

Jack Dunn, our No.10 played well and scored a fine goal. His overall play needs work though, but in the 18 yard box he is good.

Jerome Sinclair played ok. He didn't impress me that much tonight, although he did have some tricks and held the ball up well. Physically he is a beast.

IMO Ibe and McLaughlin are certs for the first team in the future.

Agree with you on that one, Edward. I haven't looked forward to us getting a right back in the team since we first bought Rob Jones and we all know what a career he'd have had were it not for injury.

Sinclair whenever I've seen him just seems big but...
It's what comes after the 'but' that's hard decide. I'm not overly confident in him as yet. Ibe looks like he could do well.
It's as much down to mentaility and the right attitude as it is to talent.

Glad to see a manager who wants to bring an identity back to the club and wants to integrate the youngsters.

Did he have that much choice. Still, it's a silver lining for the youngsters to gain experience and one of the best things about this season.
Maybe if Dalglish had given Coates a run last once the season had imploded we'd know one way or the other whether he has some sort of chance of making it here.
