Him and Studge will form the perfect strike partnership but only in the physio's room.
When you look at all the 'lesser lights' at clubs that are tearing up the league this season, if there's a chance to pick up a cheap unknown striker/attacker this window, then I say we take the risk.
The biggest disappointments of Rodgers era transfers have all come with the biggest price tags.
It would be great to start the second half of the season with a top flight keeper as that's the biggest single player improvement we could make, but it's doubtful that can happen.
yes, we are buying players that fall between stools - there is always some flaw - either they are too young to slot straight in - or they are once-greats that have been hobbled by injury - or they are lads with potential but come at far too high a price tag (for mere potential).
I think we have two problems - we are buying the wrong profile of player and 2) in our last 5 years, we have had dimwits in charge of transfers and scouting.
I woul dlike to see analysis of us, when we were at our best. Yes, we bought ina youngster like Ian Rush. But more often than not, we brought in lad slike Alan Kennedy, or Terry McDermott, or Peter Beardsley, or John Barnes, or John Aldridge, etc who were all reasonably established in top flight football. They were lads who were in their early to mid 20s....they were not 18 or 19 years old....or 21, like Borini.
And we always used to bring in the right type - team player, good family background, didn't like the beer and women too much, etc.
I wonder if our owners are setting the wrong terms re transfers. i.e. are they trying to make us a nursery club, bring in cheap, and sell for higher prices.
