:D   sure.

Kenneth, in the post-match interview, reveals latest excuses.

"I think we looked a wee bit tired," he said. "We had a lot of possession in the game but we gave away the ball quite a lot in vital positions. It's not because they can't play, it's because of tiredness.

"If you play Sunday-Wednesday-Saturday it's going to take its toll. A lot of the lads had played all three games, and for us that's a reason behind our performance.

"It's because of the demand on them with games, and we've not had enough players at our disposal to give them adequate rest.  It's a problem we face and it's dictated to the clubs and the players by the television schedule. The fact we've done well in two cup competitions has obviously given us lots of extra fixtures."

so now the excuses include too many fixtures and a demanding TV schedule.

but I thought with no involvement in Europe this season, we were going to have far fresher players...and push on.

the excuses now are just laughable.

I can't believe we can lose to the bottom club in the PL, win only twice in 10 league games, be out fought from 2-0 up against last years championship team. I too cannot see any future with Kenny leading our team. There are too many pointers to show that he is tactically inept.
I can't believe it, I can't believe that I would say it, I think the only way forward is for a new manager at the end of the season. Liverpool are better than endless excuses from the man leading the club.
I have tried to defend our Manager but he has now proven to be no better than I myself would be managing the team. I think as a caretaker he was the perfect choice and I had hoped he could fire up the team for future success. Sadly he can't and we are starting all over again.
I hope John Henry and Co. can see this and appoint a new man over the summer.

Dude
Liverpool and Luis Suárez 'critically undermined' anti-racism efforts

------------------

I have read much of the Suarez affair and so much of it just is beyond belief, like how  the word black and its intended meaning/context  has sparked so much moronic journalism and reaction.
But my question is has anyone heard of any Journalist who has really looked into the case outside of the LFC connect?

"Unless you've played for a big club it's impossible to understand the pressure people can feel under"

ASI Thanks for your welcome in a previous post.

As for Downing can't wait til he proves me wrong... the "pressure" won't be eased unless  he pulls his socks up. Seriously he looks like he just needs a good kick up the backside, unfortunately for me I don't get to Anfield often but if he performed the way he usually does I would feel bad for having to pay for my admission  ticket.

It's rather dismaying that English based players don't seem to be able to grasp that pressure at  clubs like ours and the Mancs etc is going to be much more intensive than at whatever club they are currently at. It sort of puts pay to the argument of British players rather than foreign ones due to less to adapt to. At least Downing's being honest with everyone, including himself, which is important.

------------------------------------------

Surprises me that Downing gets away with (or is trying to..) that lame excuse.... how much money do you need to get paid per week to learn to be a squad player at a big club.... is it that big a difference than playing as a member of any team. I don't remember all the games he's been playing in or not, but he was given pleny of game time. Still if this is how he has to explain his awful start, Fine, from now on pull it together!

Liverpool FC, football, sport / Re: The Carling Cup Final
« on: February 23, 2012, 02:32:35 PM »
Because its a cup final theres no room for sentiment.

In an ideal world Carragher would captain the team as a thank you for his service over the years, Kelly would start at right back for his contribution in previous rounds etc etc.

But this is a cup final so Kennys got to play the strongest side hes got. If everyone's fit Id go with;

                                Reina
Johnson        Skrtel                  Agger              Enrique

                                Adam

   Kuyt                    Gerrard                      Bellamy

                         Suarez
Carroll (only due to his recent improvement)

Only changes to your lineup I'd make Juan are Spearing for Adam. I'm impressed by Spearing's attitude effort and tackling. I know he was sloppy on occasion against United but that seemed out of character.
I was leaning for Maxi instead of Bellamy but I can see Bellamy doing well as he has done against another ex club M City. Maxi has a tendency to drift out of games so he is usually  subbed in or out at some stage. I like Maxi and hope he is on the field at least 20 minutes.
I have not seen Cardiff play but there can be no doubt they will fight for everything in the first half hour and they will gain confidence if we do not impose our game by then.

Meireles was poor and Torres never came off the bench. So much for them leaving for a better club!

-----

Yes I was surprised at Meireles jumping ship, I know there were a few reasons that he would fit in .... but I thought it was short sighted when we had a new project starting at Liverpool.
Karma  :D

His performnces this season place a big question mark against his mentality though.

------------------

Agreed, I feel for Maxi though as he has been warming the bench and having to watch Downing's small contribution. I think Maxi has an injured foot the last couple of games but before that he should have got the nod ahead of Downing.

Henderson has played more minutes this season than any other player if you excempt the back 4, I think. How's that for ample time to prove your crapness? Ah, that's right, he's young an'all.

--------------------------

Exactly all Henderson has going for him seems to be that he is young. Possibly Kenny has some plan for him, a specific role, right now I have no idea as to what he is supposed to be. But Lucas was given grief for (for 2 seasons ?, Alonso too was slated as ineffective for a season or 2) his seemingly ineffective role, then he is our best player, and we missed him dearly for the first half of this season.

I for one am willing to give Kenny the time it takes to create his team. And my beef against Downing is that he has the  experience but not the will to play for Liverpool.

ok, just funny the way you led into the statement after the quote.
I see that you were being hypothetical if you were king.

Ed, I honestly think Downing has been given ample opportunity but sure if he came good I'd be happy too.
I'll never mention the Insurance agent again.

Q and A with Ferguson....

What about your retirement?

A. I said it to the directors 15 years ago, maybe more than 15 years ago. You have to remember that the most important person at Manchester United is the manager. The minute a footballer becomes more important than the manager, your club is dead. The history of this club goes down the drain. I am the most important man at Manchester United. It has to be that way.

Q. Do you think the pressures of the international game have had a negative effect on certain players on your squad?
--------------------------------

That is all I could find on the internet and no mention of the last 2 statements you made. Seems to me you were passing off your own opinions as if the were  Taggarts, but do correct me if I'm wrong.

As you well know, I would have never allowed that to happen.

I find it hard to believe Ferguson would use Michael Owen's name in that quote, your quotation marks did not include that part of the statement and that is why I questioned it. I copied your post below, do you see where the quotation marks begin and end?? It might be true, thats why I wanted clarification. If so he is being a bit disrespectful to one of his current players, hence my surprise.

“I am the most important man at Manchester United. It has to be that way."

Unfortunately Liverpool allowed the likes of the Gerrards, the Carras, the Torres, the Owens, the McMananamananans of this world, etc etc, to get way too big for their boots.

As you well know, I would have never allowed that to happen.

Downing has been given so much time but has produced 2 or 3 good crosses so far and a  goal.
I should add to my previous post that Bellamy has also been a good signing by Kenny.

Is this a quote from Ferguson??
I doubt it.

All the harping on about Rafa, give it up and GH!!
Rafa had a serious issue with going to the press to get on his side whenever he needed them. He also went to  Inter, what happened there, more politics. >:(

I liked Rafa too, but his time was up. Dalglish has been in control for 1 year and is steadying the ship. He has some short comings but his signings need to be given time. Hyppia, Haman, Lucas all needed time to grow into good players,  there is hope for Adam, Henderson and even Carroll.
Downing looks like he will never make it and we should cut our losses asap.

Enrique, Suarez are good players and bringing on Spearing, Shelvey,  and Kelly are to Dalglish's credit. Remember too how Kenny brought Flanagan and Robinson  in early and they were fantastic prosepects. Plus how he has eased out Carra like no other manager could have .
I don't see why on Liverpool blogs a Manager who took over a sinking ship should  always be attacked. He is our manager and  as such should be afforded at least as much respect as some of you seem to hold for our ex -managers.

Liverpool FC, football, sport / Re: January transfer window thread
« on: January 30, 2011, 09:09:04 PM »

If we hold out for £50M we run the risk of having him sulk as he has been doing and undermining what Dalglish is trying to do whilst having to pay him £120K for the privilege.
To be honest when I first heard the transfer news I thought nando was doing a Rooney and trying to improve his contract. Pisses me off now that is not the case and he does want to go. Mostly because Kenny has supported him to the hilt and nando was getting back in  form.
But let him go, he can sulk in London when Chelski win nowt.
Moving on, once FSG get the 50 mill and no less, then we have Suarez and hopefully another striker such as Llorente. If its Anelka so be it, Comoli and Kenny must have a list of potentials and money really can't be a hurdle.

SO tonight I'll go to bed expecting to hear tomorrow #9 is gone but we have someone else to partner Suarez.

Wondering now that Kenny has had a couple of days with the squad if we will see an away win.
Will Torres respond to Kenny's support, and Babel too.
I have been surprised at Kennys humor, it has been a long time and I never remember him being so witty behind the serious image.
I believe his impact will be immediate so goodluck tonight to Kenny and Steve Clarke.
