I know he done the dirt on us and there was
stuff about his attitude in the last few months
with us that was not acceptable. I'm not suggesting
we take him back either. Still, it's not like he
wasn't immense for us and gave us some fab

Liverpool FC, football, sport / Midterm Report
« on: November 30, 2011, 03:51:04 AM »
Think now's the right time to review our progress this season
ahead of those all important December fixtures!

Any thoughts? (btw, what happened to Dude's end of season report?)

Liverpool FC, football, sport / Is Gerrard a crock?

Seriously, c'mon, anyone else noticed this?

The lad's been out and then out again. I thought we had
world-class sports science people at the club now...

Captain Reina methinks and Henderson might have to step up to
the mark sooner than expected!

Liverpool FC, football, sport / Andy Carroll - The Big Man
« on: October 26, 2011, 03:42:38 PM »
It's weird, you have a dwarf, Silva, out there taking the
Premiership by storm. Our man Carroll, a giant, on the

I think he just needs to believe in himself more, play
his game like he did at Newcastle. I never think about
the price tag when in comes to him, he could have cost
2p for all I care...

Wait for those crosses to come in and stick 'em in the back
of the net. C'mon Andy!

It's that time of year Again!

Anyway, I'm not going to get carried away with us winning the title after 3 games or calling for Kenny to be Sacked! Bar the centre back thing and under the circumstances, I think we've done fine with the signings/rebuild and I'm gonna keep my head down 'til after we play City at home at the end of November. Should have some sort of idea how things are going at that point I reckon?

Was chewing over our last two pre-season games & the community shield etc....

Imo, amongst other things Dalglish has filled that dressing room with some Attitude.....
Adam, Carroll, Suarez and throw in Daniel Agger are players with attitudes (and a bit
of the devil in them!).

One of the reasons we could never win the league with Stevie G is, imo, he lacks that.
Sure, his fans will point to his commitment etc., etc. blah! but he's become way too polished
in my opinion, doesn't understand the dark arts of winning the league, yeah he'll dive for a
peno in a very technical and believable manner but it's more than that....it's off the ball, in the
tunnel, psyching out the opposition. When we were close 2 seasons ago we needed to TAKE
the league NOT wait for it to be handed to us or another team to mess up!

So providing we make the 2 signings at centre back and left back I firmly believe we're in
their with a shout at the title this season! Sure there are more experienced and perhaps
deeper squads, but if there's still fuel in the tank around April and we're in the mix at the top,
then No One Gives It To You, You Have To Take It!

Liverpool FC, football, sport / Good Overview of Transfer Policy
« on: July 09, 2011, 04:46:22 AM »
Figured this article deserved a thread all it's own, because it's perhaps
the best piece, I've read on our Summer transfer dealings to date.
It's one of those rare analyses that, imo, sentence after sentence hits a
lot of nails on the head

Hopefully, Mr. Tomkins will get stuck into our defence next when the 2 touted
positions are filled, in particular the emergence of Martin Kelly last year was
a real highlight that got a bit overlooked in the rush to join the bandwagon
to canonise Lucas (don't get me wrong I like Lucas and really hope that he
does the business in the Copa 'cos he'll need to be up another gear next year!!)
at the expense of Kuyt (who was immense, imo).

Other points deserving attention are the injury-prone (but very talented) Agger,
Glen Johnsons most important season (next year!) the need to start thinking
post-Carragher (not writing him off yet....). My opinion is that by the end of next
season the heir to Carragher should be apparent (Not Skrtel, Sorry!) and if Agger
can't stay fit, I'm hoping to see Kelly take his spot.........It would also be nice to
have a defender that can weigh in with a goal or two on the end of a set-piece
(been sayin' it for years!)

Liverpool FC, football, sport / Comolli
« on: June 22, 2011, 02:11:05 AM »
This guy rarely gets talked about? The reason that I bring it up
is because, I like Martin Jol:

"It was Comolli who told Jol after Michael Carrick had been sold to Manchester United for £18.6m
in 2006 that he had found an even better replacement in Didier Zokora, who is now playing for
Trabzonspor in Turkey." :o

Anyway, here's hoping the guys are working TOGETHER on everything!

Liverpool FC, football, sport / Arsenal is the target!
« on: June 01, 2011, 07:54:44 PM »
Following on from Wenger's latest spin:

ffs Barcelona already play good football and win things, i don't get the point at all??

Anyway, I'd argue that we have suffered from an inferiority complex to Arsenal
in the league for way too long and imo they look most vulnerable of the top 4, cos
i reckon nothing is shifting the other 3 for a while.

Liverpool FC, football, sport / Manager's Position

Kenny's been in the job a few months now, wondering what people think about him getting the gig for next season? Noting this report:

Liverpool FC, football, sport / Lucas Pezzini Leiva
« on: February 12, 2011, 02:02:25 AM »
OMG!!! Seriously though, I watched the France v Brazil friendly Wednesday (solely to watch him play) and to begin with I 'm not going to say arise sir Lucas, midfield general! However, given the company that he was keeping (Alves, Luiz, Robinho) and the occasion, I thought he acquitted himself quite well (Brazil were down to 10 for half the game). Granted he made some mistakes, playing a bit deeper than he does for us, but came very close to setting up an equaliser near the end with a lovely pass forward.

Anyway, I think that it's a really important period for this player (he has pedigree, we know that!) because he appears to have picked up the defensive midfield role, even though he's originally box-to-box. Ideally he'd put it all together and dominate for us next season, saving us £25 million (or whatever a decent midfielder costs these days). I'm just hoping that Anfield's best kept secret can be kept 'til the end of the season, cos the bandwagon may be about to role (granted these are worth reading!):

I said I'd start this thread for anyone who wanted to discuss tactics, formations and chalkboard stuff surrounding the games. It's kindof nerdy tbh ;D. The point being though that a lot of the analysis on TV is complete shine-a-light.

Anyway, here's the view of the Chelsea game from Zonal Marking:
