Liverpool FC, football, sport / Pre-Season So Far
« on: July 26, 2009, 07:48:02 PM »
Good result for the reds today against Singapore 5-0 and a much improved performance from the previous friendlies. Nemeth bagged a couple and with clinical finishes. I had thought he had looked out of his depth with the first team squad before todays game, but today he was alot better.

I've also been impressed by Spearing so far. He looked quite commanding in the Gallen and Vienna games and in the far east has done a job when asked of him, at right back. San Jose has also shown potential and he might have a long term  future at the club.

Its been good to see these youngsters improve since the start of last season. The preseason fixtures so far have been tricky ones and its nice when the youngsters step up especially in front of 50,60, or 70,000 attendances.  With Insua likely to be a first team regular this year, i think we might see a few more youngsters coming through either this season or next.

I'm also hoping we're going to see a different Ryan Babel this year. So far he's looked hungry and eager to make an impact.

What's everyone elses thoughts on pre-seaon so far? Anybody in particular caught your eye? Or even seen postions that need to be filled or we need cover for?

Liverpool FC, football, sport / Carlos Tevez

With Carlos Tevez today hinting he would like to stay in the Premier League, would you like to see him at Anfield next season?

Personally i think he could be a good addition and give us another attacking option. Last week at the Newcastle game there were alot of murmurs around the ground that there things happening behind the scenes to make this deal happen.

Liverpool FC, football, sport / Lverpool VS Real Madrid

With one of the most prestigious ever football games to be held at Anfield on the horizon, what will be the outcome?

Will it be the game that gives us belief to kick on to Rome and a possible 6th European Cup?

OR is it the end of the road for another year?

Liverpool FC, football, sport / EURO CUP Vs LEAGUE
« on: February 26, 2009, 11:52:47 AM »
With the league slipping furthur and furthur away and Torres unlikely to be fit for the Boro and Sunderland games, is it now time to give the European Cup priority? Our most likely chance of silverware

Or should we go all out for the league at the expense of Europe?

Or is the squad big/good enough to do both?

Liverpool FC, football, sport / Rafa Rejects New Contract!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: January 16, 2009, 11:40:32 AM »
From the Skysports website

Rafa Benitez has turned down the new contract offered to him by Premier League leaders Liverpool.

The Spaniard, who has been at the helm of the Anfield outfit since June 2004, has been considering the deal proposed to him by club owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

Benitez confirmed last week that an agreement had been reached over the length of his contract and the salary.

But a stumbling block has emerged with the former Valencia boss unwilling to answer to the club's chief executive - a role currently held by Rick Parry - in relation to on-field matters.

Benitez told the Liverpool Echo: "The owners feel that the manager's decisions need to be subject to the chief executive.

"But I know that I am subject to results and to our fans and they are the best judges I will ever have."

Liverpool FC, football, sport / Fulham Boo Boys
« on: November 23, 2008, 11:20:41 AM »
Personally I couldnt believe some fans reactions at the final whistle to the bore draw with Fulham. Yes it was dissapointing to drop points but to boo the team even after our best start for years?? Or are fans entitled to boo if they pay alot of money for their ticket??

Just wanted to get an idea of the number of people who go OR dont go to Anfield on a regular basis :) :)

I dont want to ruin everyones day, BUT if the owners were not to invest in the first team and especially QUALITY NOT QUANTITY how long will Torres stay? Every club in the world would love to have him and the loyalty of some foreign stars is questionable. If we are challenging for 3rd/4th for the next 2/3 years would Torres put up with that?DISCUSS
